The data used to create this map was gathered from January 2026-April 2026. This map shows the organizations and services around the North East Wisconsin Region which support immigrants and refugees as they resettle in the area.

Each sector shows what is available and reflects the perspectives of Newcomers as well as organizations.

A "Newcomer" is a person or family who has moved to the region or the United States in the past 5-10 years and is learning and adjusting to the main languages and cultures of our region.

Education as a Pathway to Thriving

Newcomers viewed education very positively and identified it as a critical pathway to thriving, integration, and future success.

Respondents highly valued opportunities to learn English, develop new skills, and access education for themselves and their children, with learning and skills development (36%), positive school experiences and environments (24%), and school attendance and access (18%) emerging as the strongest themes.


Positive School Experiences

Parents particularly praised schools for their strong educational quality and supportive learning environments (42%), as well as positive school culture, bilingual support, and opportunities for social connection.


Continued Learning Needs

Despite these positive experiences, Newcomers expressed a strong desire for greater access to flexible and continued educational opportunities (59%), including opportunities to return to school and pursue further learning.

41% emphasized the need for additional English language instruction to strengthen their speaking, writing, and communication skills.
